It is with heavy hearts that Betty and the family of Walter James (Jim) Samaroden wish to share that he passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in Fort McMurray.
He is survived by his wife Betty of 55 years; children Tamara, Koralee (Trevor), & James (Melanie) and four grandchildren, Ethan, Ayla, Isabella, and Madeleine. He is also survived by his eldest sister Olga, many cousins, nieces and nephews and family members.
Jim was a much-loved member of the Fort McMurray community for over 50 years. His passion for helping others will always be remembered and missed. Jim and Betty moved to Fort McMurray in 1970 to start and raise their family. Along the journey, they became pillars of the community through volunteering and community service. Jim loved helping people; it was his passion.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Robert Anderson Funeral Services Inc. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Samaroden Family; monetary disbursements will be decided amongst several of his passions and will be announced at the Celebration of his Life.
He was a friend to all.
