With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Patrick Stephen Ryan on October 6, 2024, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Born on November 15, 1946, in Red Deer, Alberta, Pat lived a life rich in family, friendship, and love.

Pat was the beloved son of Stephen and Hattie Ryan, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Pat’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by his wife of 58 years, Linda Ryan; his daughters: Roxanne (Rod) Thomas, Sheila (Ray) Nicolle, and Shannon (Jason) Ryan; and his treasured grandchildren: Darin, John (Jess) Thomas, and Mackenzie Thomas.

Pat grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, where he met and married his beloved wife Linda in 1966. He worked various jobs living in central and southern Alberta until settling in Fort McMurray with his young family in 1979. Pat’s career spanned 30 years at Syncrude, where he was known for his dedication and hard work until his retirement in 2009. His personal passions were centered around nature and family. Pat loved fishing, camping, and hunting; he found joy in sharing these pastimes with his loved ones, instilling in them a love for the great outdoors.

Characterized by his wry sense of humor, Pat enjoyed lively and spirited discussions. He especially enjoyed playfully teasing his wife and children, turning every moment into a cherished memory. His warmth and genuine personality made him a beloved presence among all who knew him.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the palliative and home care team for their compassionate support, with special thanks to Jacklyn, whose kindness and care brought comfort during Pat’s final days.

As per his wishes, no service will be held. Instead, we ask you raise a glass next time you’re sitting around a campfire. Pat’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the stories that they will continue to share.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
