Candace
Candace has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember living next door.
Didn’t matter the day or time Candace was the first one to include me and my family. If it was a game of soccer, hockey, biking, rollerblading or simply ‘hanging out’ she was the neighbourhood protector and made sure everyone felt safe & welcomed.
There wasn’t a memory outside that didn’t involve Candace in someway. Our parenting strategies were endless and her love for everyone was inspiring. She’d never leave anyone out & often even tried to get the animals together in a lovely game of tag on the back deck!
As the kids grew and didn’t socialize so close to home we used to still sit together on the decks and have our ‘neighbourhood watch’ meeting’s. Reminiscing about the hilarious adventures we’d seen from our front doors.
I can remember coming home from work after a long day and Candace would be on her front step excited to show me her supper creations which usually consisted of Pizza soup, Wong tons, noodles or goulash.
Candace has a love for nature & found beauty in all things. Especially animals. Candace would never see an animal afraid or hungry and the same went for neighbourhood children & friends.
Candace was always full of determination. If she put her mind to it she’d always find a way to make it happen. I can remember walks to and from the park to ‘check’ on the kids when in reality she was just your typical worried parent who always wanted to make sure everything was just so. We’d often find ourselves having more fun at the park on the swings, slide & monkey bars. Those walks usually consisted of us carrying bags of water bottles, freezies and snacks for all the neighbourhood kids at the park.
Candace always made time for others and often put others before her self. When Candace knew I had a rough day she’d always put together a care package to help take my mind off of whatever was difficult or bothering me. She knew exactly what to say and how to say it. She had a gift for consoling others and easing situations seeing the good in everything and never taking anything for granted.
For many years I can remember visiting with Candace and hours later struggling to keep my eyes open and counting down the hours I’d have to wake up for work. Which wasn’t very many. In those moments I believe Candace and I gained an incredible bond that could never be broken. I can remember those late night texts from my kids and husband wondering where I was and if they knew I was with Candace they knew everything was okay. Candace frequently joked that I was her wife as we spent so much time together just being our true selves.
Candace was the life of the party and I enjoyed her constant company. I could go on for hours about the person Candace was in my life and the sister like bond we truly shared. We knew each other’s deepest fears, thoughts, joys, wishes & dreams. I can remember sharing my dreams with Candace and to my surprise Candace would pull out her dream book. We’d spent hours deep in conversation figuring out just how similar we each were or how insanely lucky we were to have each other as neighbours, best friends and family.
Candace, life on earth has never felt so lonely without you. I often find myself thinking, I’ll just call Candace or let’s go ask Candace for her opinion. I want you to know the neighbourhood watch parties will continue and although we’ve made memories together I’ll include you in every new memory. Thank you for talking me through life, for knowing me better than I knew myself and always being my biggest fan!
Candace I Love You
Wishing we had more time, wishing I could hear your laugh one last time & wishing you all the very best each & everyday. I have everything covered here on earth until we meet again Beautiful!

Candace was my childhood and lifelong best friend. Her heart was as big as the ocean for the people she loved. I remember her bringing home kittens and homeless animals and finding them homes. I got two cats from Candace that she rescued. There are so many fun and amazing memories I will share with Candace. Too many to mention, but she was a sister to me. A true friend that is very rare in this world. I cherish her and the sisterhood we shared for over 30 years.
I missed having her in NS for the past, recent years, but we always stayed in touch and had a special connection that I will never be able to share with anyone else. I am so very sorry for the loss of Candace to her family and anyone who was her friend. She had a special heart, and her laugh was contagious.
I will always think of you and love you forever Candace. You are now all of our angel in the sky.

Candace will forever be the person who said it’s OK I understand Even when her heart was breaking into pieces She’s always been the one to put others first. To listen to comfort and to support even when her own world was crumbling not that she was trying to be a martyr it’s just that she cared so deeply for the people she loved she’d rather endure the pain then see them hurt. She swallowed her pride, pushed aside her feelings and pretend everything was fine even when it wasn’t because our piece of mine was more important than her own every time she said it’s OK a part of her wished that someone would notice the cracks in her voice, the hidden sadness behind her eyes not everyone sees the pain behind the smile and that’s OK she kept saying, I understand even when it felt like nobody understood her even when felt like she had nothing left to give because that she was who she was.
she loved deeply she carried intensely, and even when her heart was breaking, she always chose to be there for the ones she loved no matter the cost .
Candace, you were a remarkable presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know you. Your absence leaves a significant void in my heart. I will always cherish and miss you deeply
I love you

My heart hurts for you all as you say goodbye to your precious Candace. I will always remember how great of a mom she was to her boys , whom she loved profoundly! Ida , Cyril and family hold your memories close in the difficult days ahead, for these memories will keep her alive forever. Sending lots of love your way today and always! She was such a loving individual, last words spoken to me were “ “Love you aunt Jeanie! “ She will always have a special place in my heart! ❤️
