Wilma Bailey had passed away on February 27, 2025, in Fort McMurray, Alberta, at the age of 85. Wilma was born on August 26, 1939, in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. The youngest daughter of William (Bill) and Thersa Reid. Wilma grew up in Lucky Lake, where she started working by providing nursing care at the local hospital. Wilma married Jerry Bailey, together they had three children: Brenda, Dale and Dennis.

After the family settled in Fort McMurray, Wilma started her second career in construction and hardware retail sales.  This couldn’t have been any more different than nursing, but she enjoyed the work and formed many friendships along the way. When the sons were in high school; Wilma, Jerry and the boys moved Africa. Then later, off to the U.S. to work for several years. After their time in the U.S., they were back to Fort McMurray. When it came time for retirement, they moved back to their hometown: Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan.

After Jerry passed away, Wilma stayed in Lucky Lake for several years. Wanting to make a move closer to her own children, Wilma moved to Lac La Biche where she enjoyed several years of fun activities and formed wonderful new friendships.

Wilma is survived by her daughter: Brenda Sommerville (Ian) of Lac La Biche; son: Dale Bailey (Beverly) of Olds; grandchildren: Jeanine Sommerville (Kevin), Dale Sommerville (Elise) of Fort McMurray, Sandra Sommerville (Isaiah) of Calgary, and Dennis McGregor (Sarah) of Spruce Grove; two very special great grandsons: Chase and Dane Sommerville of Fort McMurray; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, several had a special place in her heart.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents: Bill and Thersa; husband: Jerry Bailey; son: Dennis Bailey; brother: Lloyd Reid; and sister: Mavis Jessiman.

Wilma spent the past two years being cared for in Willow Square Continuing Care, in Fort McMurray. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Willow Square for providing such excellent care for Wilma. Interment will be held this summer in Saskatchewan.
