Obituary of Coale Morgan Barrett

Please share a memory of Coale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Son, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin and Friend: Coale Morgan Barrett at the young age of 31 passed peacefully on March, 2025, surrounded by family in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Coale was born in Fort McMurray on November, 1993, to his loving parents, Marnie and Edward. As a young child he was always a busy boy, going on adventures, and exploring. Him and his Mom moved to Hinton, Alberta, where he spent a lot of time living his life on the farm. He was an incredibly happy child who truly loved life. As he grew into a teenager, he started hanging out with friends more, going out lots, and refining his taste in music becoming an independent young man. He loved magic. Always entertaining his friends and family with the new tricks he had just learnt. He was known to be a bit rebellious at times, but his heart of gold and strong morals kept him in check.

Coale was an exceptional young adult. He loved his family deeply. After moving back to Fort McMurray, he loved and often made time to be with his family. He adored spending time with his cousins. He’d take them swimming and camping at the lake, teach them about water safety, and support their adventurous spirits as well. He was a very spiritual man. He had a connection to traditional medicine and Indigenous teachings. He would often partake in smudging and had an understanding of traditional medicines and healing practices. He would often pass this wisdom on to his little cousins. He greatly enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge with his family.

Coale was a hard-working dedicated Pilot driver for the hauling of wide loads. This means he was tasked with ensuring the truck made it safely to its destination. He also helped ensure the safety of other drivers on the road. Coale took pride in his work, a job he was very good at as well. His job allowed him to travel to many places. Up to the Northwest Territories and all over Alberta and British Columbia. He was a well traveled man who loved learning about new places and new cultures.

He was a fun, kind-hearted, loving Soul. His infectious smile could light up a room and lift the spirits of everyone inside. He loved nature, being outdoors and spending time camping. He was an animal lover and would treasure the moments when he got to see the local wildlife or on his travels always taking pictures of the Buffalos and Bears. He was a bit of an artist. He would make bracelets, do beading and medicine bags, for his family and friends. He’d often end up on the toboggan hill with his cousins and family. He was quite the dare devil though, making jumps on the hill others would not dare to try. Coale’s life was filled with adventure, spirituality and unending love. He cared deeply for his family, and they loved him more then anything. He was a truly one-of-a-kind soul whose presence will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his Mom, Marnie; Step-Dad, Bert; Dad, Edward Jr; Grandma, Jeanie; Popy, Edward Sr.; as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and countless Friends.

R.I.P. Forever 31 and always loved
