Obituary of Lucienne Marie Bourque
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lucienne (Luci) Marie Annette Bourque (82) on March 29th, 2025, in Fort McMurray Alberta after a courageous battle with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Luci lived a full and active life which began in Rogersville, New Brunswick on May 7th, 1942, where she was the second child of Eloi and Velma Bourque. She was raised in west Saint John where she attended school and graduated in 1959. She met her husband, Lawrence and was married on July 11th, 1960. She was a major support to her husband for 65 years growing together from teenagers to adults reaching lifetime goals that exceeded their expectations.
Luci and Lawrence lived and raised their family in the Saint John area until they headed west to Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1976. Never to sit idle for long, Luci took a job at Northward Developments where she worked for 5 years. Luci was very active within the community and when she saw a void in fabric supplies, she needed, she opened a business, The Silver Thimble fabric store which she operated for many years. As her working career was slowing down Luci relied on her many hobbies to pass the time. She was an excellent artist, photographer, seamstress, cook, baker and never shied away for any home related task, she was amazing and could do anything she put her mind too and did it very well. As an artist she sold and gifted many paintings throughout the years. Her works of art are proudly displayed in her children’s, grandchildren’s, friends and relative’s homes which will serve to keep her memory alive.
She was known on several occasions to be a gracious host for many home gatherings, Black Tie and Sock, Hawaiian Luau and Wedding after parties to name a few. She was also quite a singer when the mood and the company was right, she and her siblings were known to take to the stage at some rustic Fort McMurray establishments.
Luci was an avid golfer taking the game up in her late 40’s, she had an excellent short game and putted like a pro. Like all her hobbies she worked diligently at honing her skills over the years. She had the opportunity to golf throughout Canada and the United States through the years and was always happy to stop and play at any course she could. Throughout her and Lawrence’s retirement they spent several years in Arizona for the winter months and were gracious hosts to anyone who wanted to get away from the cold weather. Luci was always a pleasure to golf with and was always quick to adopt people for post game meals that she would happily prepare.
Luci is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Lawrence, together they had four children; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one special fur baby. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children; Daniel his wife Rita; grand daughters, Lisa and Leanne; her son, Gary his wife, Raechel; grandson, Randy his wife, Geneva; great grandchildren Ethan and Madison, her daughter, Lorianne her husband, Vince White; grand daughter, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Griffin, Harper, Henley, and Archer; grand daughter Jessica her fiancé Dave Cowie; great grandson, Callum; and grand daughter, Jordana.
Sonny was Luci’s faithful puppy that gave her exercise, companionship and much joy over the past two years, in her eyes Sonny could do no wrong. Luci (Mom/ Nanny) was very proud of all her children, grand children, great grandchildren and Sonny and very much cherished the time she had with them all. She always made them feel loved and constantly inspired them with her creativity.
Luci is survived by her three sisters and three brothers, Yvette Fullerton (Albert), Fernande MacFarlane (Jim), Dianne Snider (Clem), Roger Bourque (Jeanette), Donald Bourque (Linda), Paul Bourque (Joann)
