It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Kevin Vincent MacDonald, on March 27th, 2025, in Fort McMurray, AB at the age of 75.

Kevin was born on November 15th, 1949, to Catherine E. (Shaw) and Stanley MacDonald in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

He began his professional journey as a pipefitter in his home province, eventually leading him to various jobs across Canada before he settled in Fort McMurray, Alberta. There, he began working for Syncrude where he would meet the love of his life, Shirlee, in 1981. Their bond grew into a lifelong partnership, and together they were given a beautiful family.

In 2004, Kevin and Shirlee were joined by their daughter Felicia, who he said was his Munchkin and Angel on Earth. The three of them continued the tradition of travel, exploring the United States and Canadian provinces together. Kevin retired in 2013 after a fulfilling career, and in 2023, he was recognized for an extraordinary 50+ years as a proud member of the 488 Union.

Following his retirement, Kevin spent his time cherishing family moments, enjoying coffee with friends, watching hockey, and giving back to his community, especially supporting the homeless. He thought highly of his wife and daughter and wanted to ensure they were being taken care of in his last wishes. His generous spirit, passion, and straightforward nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Kevin’s dedication to his faith and family defined his life, and may he continue to inspire us to live with greater purpose, passion, and joy.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Shirlee; daughter, Felicia; brothers, Joe (Tina), Xie (Debbie); nieces, Renata (Dinao), Robyn, Deliz (Gabriel & Emily), Diana, Amy (Brooks), Nicole; nephews, Mark (Rhett), Enzo, Luca, Nevin; sister-in-law, Mary; godchildren, Darian, Braleigh, Alexis & Arie.

Kevin was predeceased by his mother, Catherine E. (Shaw); father, Stanley MacDonald; sister, Jean Marie, & brother-in-law Dino Poloni.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Robert Anderson Funeral Services, 115, 190 MacAlpine Crescent, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 4A6 on March 31, 2025, from 11am-1pm.

A Celebration of Life will follow on Tuesday, April 8th at St. John’s Catholic Parish, 3 Hospital St, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 1P2. Mass will begin @10am, with a slideshow and lunch to follow.
