Obituary of Christian John Given-Benoit
It is with great sorrow we announced the sudden passing of Christian John Given-Benoit at the young age of 22 years.
Christian was born in Guelph Ontario then moved to Fort McMurray at age 15. Christian was a bright light in all of our lives, a handsome, kind, and gentle soul who left lasting impressions on everyone he met. He loved riding his dirt bike, playing guitar, and spending time with his friends. But above all he deeply loved his family; his mother, his brother, grandmother, aunts, uncles, and everyone who held him close.
Christian’s smile lit up every room, and his memory will forever live in our hearts. Christian always had his own sense of style, quirky and out there at times but nonetheless, that was him.
He leaves to mourn; his mother Sonya, his father John Given, his step-father Justin Martin, his brothers Riley and Jairo, sisters Debora and Gabriela, his grandmother Priscilla, and his papa Fintan. He also leaves aunts Elaine (Lenny), Tamara (Quentin), his uncle Darrell. Christian also had a very special bond with his second family; Ryan, Angela, Ethan, Zack and Riley, as well as a large circle of extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Christian was predeceased by his grandparents Patrick Benoit and Wayne and Erna Given. His great-grandparents John and Juanita Childs and Emma and Dennis Benoit and his great-uncle John James Childs.
A service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11am – 1pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic parish located at 3 Hospital St., Fort McMurray. Visitation will start at 10:30 am.
The family would like to thank the paramedics and Northern Lights Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
