Loving Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicki Norine Lafond. She passed peacefully at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray on December 29th, 2024, with her son Joey by her side.

Nicki was born on June 15, 1955, in Victoria, British Columbia to her loving parents Nic and Eileen Lunn. As a child, Nicki grew up on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, British Columbia. She was number 6 of 8 children.

During 1972, Nicki met the love of her life Joseph Francis Xavier Lafond in Nanaimo, and they married on February 17, 1973.

Nicki spent most of her time taking care of her two children: Joseph and Helen. When they arrived, Nicki would help raise grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Nicki enjoyed music: especially George Strait, baking, colouring, and story time with her family. She was the life of the party, enjoying sparkles, glitter, flour fights, and who could forget, Bingo. You rarely saw her without a smile on her face. She always found a reason to smile.

She is survived by her children: Joe (Paulette), and Helen. Her sisters: Carol (Pat), Pam, Dawn, and Holly; her grandchildren: Aaron (Sapphire), Damian (Rachael), Jonathan (Jacqueline), Jade (Andrew), Courtney, Jordan (Sarah), Matthew, and Marissa; and great-grandchildren: Carson, Jillian, Saige, Baby Girl Foy (August 2025), Baby Foy (October 2025).

Nicki is pre-deceased by her husband: Joe; her parents Nic & Eileen Lunn; her brother: Michael; and her sisters: Tere and Linda.
