Obituary of Roxann Marie Weibel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Roxann Marie Weibel, on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Roxann was born in December 1960 to Walter and Jennifer in Owl River, near Lac La Biche, Alberta. She spent her early childhood in the Lac La Biche area before moving to Fort McMurray, a city she came to call home. Her Indigenous ancestry deeply connected her to the beautiful northern region of Alberta, and she carried that pride throughout her life.
A self-taught artist, Roxann was known for her stunning beadwork, jewelry, and traditional crafts, often incorporating precious stones with spiritual significance. She believed in the healing power of stones and their ability to impact emotions and well-being, a philosophy that enriched both her art and her relationships. Roxann showcased her creations at trade shows, where she connected with others, shared her passion, and celebrated her art.
Roxann cherished camping trips with her family, especially at Gregoire Lake, where she loved the outdoors. She also enjoyed playing softball, embracing time in the sun with friends and family.
Fiercely independent, strong-willed, and endlessly creative, Roxann pursued her passions with courage and joy. While art was a central part of her life, she was also a devoted homemaker and a nurturing presence to many. Her door was always open, and she offered her love and support freely to anyone in need.
Roxann’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren. She treasured Sunday breakfasts, movie nights, and baking sessions, often sharing her beloved desserts. Her carrot cake, apple pie and oatmeal raisin cookies will be fondly remembered for years to come.
Roxann is survived by her children: Victor Hawes, Paulette Taylor, and Vincent Hawes; and by her cherished grandchildren: Cody Taylor, Kale Taylor, and Landon Mahaney. She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members.
