It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Joseph MacLellan (Johnny Gula), who left us peacefully surrounded by friends and family on July 8, 2025 at the age of 68.

John was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on May 24th, 1957 to his parents Margaret Helene & John Abraham Maclellan.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Maryarthina (Tina), whom he missed dearly every day. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Trent) Brown and Crystal MacLellan, who were the lights of his life and one of his proudest legacies including his 3 grandchildren Breanna (Tyler), Braden, Brooke and 1 great grandchild Ella Rae. 

He is also lovingly remembered by his devoted brother and best friend, Robert 'Bobby' Goola (Cindy), brother Gregory and his beloved sisters, Stephanie, Lila (Lorne), Margaret (John), Wanda, Sharon Ann (Jeff) as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who mourn his passing.

John will be remembered for his kindness, strength, stubbornness, sense of humor, and the unconditional love he had for his family. 

A service will be held at Brasdor church in Cape Breton on Thursday, August 7th at 10:30 am, and at a later date a celebration of life will take place at the Fort McMurray Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday, September 6th at 4 pm.

He will be missed beyond words and loved forever
