Kingsley Leroy Woods Obituary

On Thursday August 14, 2025, Kingsley Woods (Running Bear) started his journey home, to join our relatives in the spirit world at the age of 56 years. Kingsley was a devoted husband, father, brother, nephew and uncle. He was loved by many and his presence will be greatly missed.


Kingsley is survived by his wife Belinda, daughters Olivia, Julia and Sophia, his sisters Robin Meeches and JoAnne Woods and many nieces and nephews.


Kingsley was predeceased by his parents Ross Woods and Bessie Meeches, his sister Laura, and brothers; Gary, Darryl, Ricky, as well as his niece Skylar. 


Kingsley was born November 25,1968 in Portage La Prairie, MB. With a passion for education, he graduated high school at PCI in 1986. He then attended college in Cornwall ON,  where he became a meteorologist then, landing a job with the government working for Environment Canada. Kingsley worked at weather stations throughout the Northwest Territories. Kingsley then decided to pursue higher education as an engineer and attended the university of Manitoba. He graduated as a mechanical engineer with an areospace operation. Kingsley took summer jobs working for Boeing Canada in Winnipeg as an Aerospace Engineer. Kingsley was then offered a position working for Syncrude Canada in Fort McMurray and later for Suncore Energy as an engineer.


Kingsley was a a gifted healer and devoted Sundancer. Kingsley and his wife Belinda met at a Sundance where they eventually married and walked the red road together. Kingsley helped many people spiritually throughout his life at home and throughout as a healer. Kingsley enjoyed fishing with and camping with his family in the summer and winter. Kingsley was known for his great sense of humour, big smile and loud laughter. Kingsley’s last few days were spent supported by his family at the Northern lights Health Care Centre in Fort McMurray. Kingsley’s wake and funeral service took place at the Spirit lodge on Long Plans First Nations in Manitoba. His burial took place at the Old Sioux Village Cemetery near Dakota Tipi First Nation in Manitoba.
