It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Roberta Leigh Monnich nee: Stone, announce her sudden passing on September 16, 2025, in Fort McMurray, AB.
Roberta was born in Regina Saskatchewan to her loving parents, Marlene and Carmen. She was Cree on her mother’s side, and a soon to be member of the Pasqua First Nation in Saskatchewan.
Growing up Roberta developed a love for all things sci-fi, especially Star Trek. She was also a lover of Marvel comics and movies, and Big Brother.
Roberta met her doting husband of 24 years, Chris, in Lloydminster AB, yes, Alberta not Saskatchewan. The two first met as coworkers at a small company, Scotty’s Rentals and Sales. From there they enjoyed each others company and soon built a relationship that carried them to today. They lived in Lloydminster and Blackfoot with their two children, Greg and Lianna
The happy couple later relocated to Fort McMurray once their own children were old enough, and soon enough had three grand children, two born in Fort McMurray and one in Lloydminster.
When Roberta wasn’t enjoying an Avengers movie or Star Trek re-runs she could be found out and about either relaxing in nature or socializing at a hockey game, bowling alley, in a casino, preferably Vegas. While there she’d be sure to catch a hockey game, Edmonton vs Vegas. When enjoying a hockey game, she always cheered for the Oilers!
Her time in nature was often spent fishing and golfing. She was also known to greatly enjoy a camping trip here and there. While relaxing by the fire she’d savour a nice glass of wine and time with friends and family.
Even as an avid outdoors woman she kept her nails looking gorgeous, her makeup done up like a movie star and her jewelry coordinated with her outfit. She was a woman of fashion and glamour. Always looking he best and dripping in elegance.
She was a very loving and giving individual that would help everyone from family to friends and more importantly, anyone that needed help. So many times, when everyone was at the local casino or bar, she would buy the needy sandwiches, and water. Provide them with money and give them hugs. She shared her kindness and heart with all.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Chris Monnich; children, Greg Stone (River), and Lianna Stone (Tony Walbourne); grandchildren, Cadence Bacon, Thomas Walbourne and Samantha Walbourne; mother, Marlene Ermel; sister, Pam Stone (Yvon Basque); cousin, Tammy Ismond; mother-in-law, Jane Monnich; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Zena Monnich and Kerry Klassen, Cliff and Corrie Monnich, and Susan Monnich; nephew, Justin Monnich; and her favourite pet, Mittens the cat!
She was predeceased by her sister, Missy Stone; and father, Carmen Stone.
Roberta was a shining example of a truly wonderful and good woman; she will be missed by all that knew her. She was a gift to those who had the opportunity to call her a friend or who cherished her as family.
This is not goodbye but see you later my love. She is probably playing Keiser with all our past family members over the years. I will join you when my time comes. Cheers.
