It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bruce David Riley on December 22, 2025, at the age of 86, at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta, with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side.

Bruce was born on April 4, 1939, to his parents, Avon and Robena Riley, in Gypsum Mines, Nova Scotia.

In his late teens, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for several years, attaining the rank of Corporal, before ultimately pursuing a career as an Industrial Electrician. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 625 and the Royal Canadian Legion. At the legion, he was known for his skill in the men’s and mixed pool leagues.

Bruce met his wife of 44 years, Judy Riley (Mullaley), in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They often travelled together for his work, creating many lasting memories. They had one daughter, Shannon, whom he often called “#1.” He loved his two grandchildren, Liv and Austin. He always had a twinkle in his eye when watching or chatting with them.

Bruce will be remembered for his smile that could light up any room, his quick wit, his strong love and support for family and friends, and his deep love for dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Riley; his daughter, Shannon (Nik) Boyd; and his grandchildren, Liv and Austin Boyd. He is also survived by his eldest sister, Marilyn Riley, and his brother-in-law, Eddie Kennie.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Robena and Avon Riley, and his younger sister, Diane Kennie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
