It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Allen Burnside on the 29th of December 2025, at the Northern LIghts Regional Health Center in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Born March 30th, 1954 in Montreal, Quebec, Terry was the son of the late Harry and Jean (Galley) Burnside. He is survived by his loving wife, Lori DeGrace-Burnside, his daughter Natasha Montes, his brother Gary Burnside and his grandchildren Kiana and Nicholas Hughes. He will be deeply missed by his father-in-law Francis DeGrace, sisters-in-law Mary Jayne Underhill (Donnie Lester), Shari Patstone, Carrie Hatt (Peter), Tammy DeGrace (Rene), brother-in-law Todd DeGrace, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and cousins in his extended family.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, his daughters Lisa and Tammy, his brother David, his mother-in-law Heather DeGrace, brothers-in-law Daryl Underhill and Craig Patstone and his niece Deanna King.
Terry’s passion for mechanics began to at an early age. He worked at various dealerships in the Saint John area demonstrating a strong work ethic. He opened his own business, T’s Auto Repair, in Nauwigewauk, New Brunswick where he spent 23 years building relationships with clients, several of whom quickly became lifelong friends. In 2008,
Terry and Lori moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta where Terry worked for Finning Canada for 10 years and proudly earned his Heavy Duty Mechanic License.
In retirement,Terry and Lori returned to the beautiful Belleisle Bay in New Brunswick where he enjoyed boating, woodworking and tinkering in his garage on countless projects. He was well-known on the Bay for greeting neighbours from his boat with his conch shell echoing across the waters. People were drawn to Terry’s sense of humour and his compassion. He knew that being useful to others provided a sense of purpose and he would rush to help others at the first opportunity. Terry supported the Hampton area by volunteering at the Hampton Food Bank. He cherished the time he spent with his special girl Sophie and his favourite cat Jack. In July 2025, Terry and Lori returned to Fort McMurray to be closer to family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals at the Northern Lights Regional Health Center in Fort McMurray, Alberta; the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton; and the EMS Flight Team for their compassion and care during a very difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert Anderson Funeral Home, Fort McMurray. A celebration of life will be held in January (date to be decided) in Fort McMurray, Alberta. At a later date (to be announced), a celebration of life and burial will be held in Hampton, New Brunswick.
