Jamie Lawrence Young,
a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and colleague, passed peacefully on December 9, 2025. He was 40 years old.
Born on January 5, 1985, in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Jamie was the son of Lawrence and Jeannie Young.
From a young age, Jamie was a determined and talented individual. He began a promising career at just 15, using his deep timbre voice as a DJ on local radio stations CJOK and KYX98, while still a student. His drive and intellect shone through as he ended up graduating at the top of his class from Father Mercredi High School.
Jamie's career path was a testament to his versatility and dedication. After radio, he found a new passion in heavy equipment operating , where he quickly showed his ability for the work as he was driven to be one of the best operators on site. His skill was evident.
Jamies greatest legacy and joy were his children.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his four children: Faith ‘Zane’, Eliana ‘Jade’, Raidon, and Norah; his partner: Shelley Foster; his parents, Lawrence and Jeannie; his siblings Liana (Chuck) and Daniel; Suzanne (James) and their children Matthew (Marieke), Brooke, and Michael (Haley); Michelle (Cory) and their children: Chris (Leah) and Caedance; and Jason (Carla) and their children: Brody (Courtney), Brandon (Krista), and Breanna. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Mary Young, and nephews Lyndon Young Jr. (Amber) and Brandon Young.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lyndon Sr. His grandparents Frank and Theresa Curtis and Joseph and Elizabeth Young.
He is survived and loved by many nieces and nephews as well as extended family.
There will be a viewing on Friday, January 16 from 4-8pm at Robertson funeral services, 190 Macalpine Crescent, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 4B3
A service to celebrate Jamie’s life will be held on: Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2pm at the Family Christian Center, 160 Dickins Drive, Fort McMurray. T9K 1R4
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jamie’s memory to a memorial fund that is set up to help his children in this difficult time.
He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
