In Loving Memory of Dena Waite

September 12, 1954 – December 30, 2025 11:11 pm

Our mama, Dena Waite, was born in Birmingham, England, and lived on her own terms - stubborn, fiery, and

completely unfiltered.

She leaves behind her daughters Chelsea Prowse (husband Micah Prowse) and Rienna Davey (husband

Brandon Davey); her beloved grandchildren Hank, Millie, Dotti, and Betsy; her former husband Harvey

Waite; and her siblings Teresa, Wendy Kerry, and Warren.

Dena was one of those rare moms that everyone else wanted to hang out with. She had fire, fight, resilience, and

an insane amount of strength. She was stubborn to her core - if you told her not to do something, she would

absolutely do it anyway and that determination stayed with her right up until her final breath.

She was funny as hell. Always messing with people, always stirring the pot just enough to keep you on your

toes. Half the time you never quite knew if she was joking or dead serious - she was hard to read, and she liked

it that way. Sarcastic, sharp, and quietly observant, she loved watching people squirm after saying something

wild just to see the reaction.

Her favorite word was fuck, and she used it well. She had a hard shell and a soft center - acted bitchy, but was

deeply kind. Thoughtful. Loyal. The kind of woman who would do anything for those she loved.

She was practical to her bones: saved every point, every dime, never wasted food, wore second-hand clothes

proudly, and somehow always made it work. But where she spent freely was love - especially for animals.

Animals were her heart. Always had been. If you didn’t treat her pets right, she didn’t like you. No second

chances. She loved animals more than people most days, and she never pretended otherwise.

There will be no memorial service - that just wasn’t her style.

To honour Dena in a way that truly reflects who she was, we ask that in lieu of flowers or cards, donations be

made to an animal shelter or rescue in her name. Animals were her safe place, her soft spot, and where her heart

always lived.

We have created a fundraising campaign through CanadaHelps, with all donations going directly to the Fort

McMurray SPCA. This allows us to read the messages you leave, see the love shared, and watch the impact

grow in her name - something that means more to us than we can put into words. The campaign will remain

open for 12 months.
