Ian David Seggie Obituary
Ian David Seggie – 1975 – 2025.
Our loving son Ian passed peacefully in his home on February 21st, 2026. Truly excellent son, brother, grandson, who loved his family deeply.
Ian was born in 1975 in Carlisle England. He brought joy to us all. As he grew up, Ian always developed and learned beyond his age. Walked and talked early, quickly learned to read and write at Ashley Street School, before coming to Canada at age five.
At age 8, in 1983, he found his first computer and took the medium like a duck to water. His computer skills developed to the point where he would program his own games, eventually building his own machines. He loved what they could do.
He attended BCIT, taking Broadcast Telecommunications, which led him to working in the radio business for over fourteen years. He helped open new radio stations across Western Canada eventually, becoming a Radio Producer. He was a natural talent.
Ian has literally, thousands of friends and family around the planet and being a computer whiz, it allowed him to keep in touch and also bring joy.
He loved Holidays & Celebrations, be it Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Birthdays, Mothers/Father’s Day, and every other.
His generosity was boundless; he loved to share with family and friends. One of his biggest highlights was when he took his parents to Las Vegas, where he bought tickets to see Shania Twain, and got backstage passes for his mum to meet Shania. The smiles were unforgettable.
Travelling was his passion, especially when it involved heading to Concerts, Hockey Games, and meeting friends and relatives.
Now speaking of Hockey, Ian will always be a huge Canucks fan. He like to support Canuck’s charities, also participating in fundraising telethons for many years.
In later years we grew our family of English Springer Spaniels. Ian loved them all and they loved him. He is the only person I know that took more “puppy-pics” than his mum.
Unfortunately, Ian fought with health issues for about twenty-five years but was very private about it. We know that he is now with his Gran, Grandpa, all his Aunties & Uncles, who he loved to bits, and they loved him.
Being parent who lost an adult son, we miss him now but will meet him again soon enough.
Love you son, always.
