It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hubert “Junior” Barnes announce his sudden passing on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 63 years of age.

Junior will be deeply missed by his “best buddy,” son William Barnes, and “Dad’s princess,” daughter Brittany Barnes. He leaves to mourn his mother, Gertrude Barnes, and siblings: Sheila Freake, Jean Williams, Jeff Barnes, and Sheldon (Lorena) Barnes. He will also be lovingly remembered by his companion, Carole Lynn Dewey.

He was predeceased by his father, Hubert Barnes; uncle, Isaac Dowden; brother-in-law, Clyde Williams; and brother-in-law, Cordell Freake.

Junior was known for always lending others a helping hand without hesitation and for spreading his contagious laugh. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in his hometown of Deer Lake, Newfoundland.
