It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William Smith. AKA: Bill, Billy, Billie Boy, Big Bill and of course MacGyver. An amazing husband of 61 years , a great father, and an exceptional grandfather. A Brother, A Friend and a Mentor to many.

Billy was 83 years old and passed away on March 18, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret, his son William Smith, His two daughters Lynn Smith and Marty Quintal with their spouses Kevin Eddy and Ken Bruce, His two granddaughters and he would be the first to tell you amazing granddaughters Rafferty Eddy and MacKenzie Bruce.

Bill was the jack of all trades, the ultimate handy man, having the amazing talent of being able to repair or build anything. He had an Amazing work ethic as many people knew they could call on him at any time. He continued to run his business right to the end!

He was the original story teller, no matter what the occasion he had a story that would fit the situation and even if it didn’t fit he would tell it anyways.

Most of all he had a love for his family beyond words. There is not a person among us that hasn’t heard a story about how amazing his granddaughters are, followed up by pictures of course. His love for his family was felt by all.

For Bill family went on beyond the borders of blood as most of you know. 

He was proud of his Scottish heritage and instilled that into his family. He was generous, kind and patient.  He loved to teach he loved to mentor and share his knowledge.

Big Bill you have touched so many lives in your journey. You are so very loved and will be dearly missed by all 

Funeral service for  Big Billy will be held at All-Saints Anglican Church, 9902 Manning Ave on Friday, March 27 at 2:00 PM.

Donations can be made in Williams name to the All Saints Anglican Church in Fort McMurray.
