William John “Bill” Christie passed away on March 22, 2026.

Born on August 6, 1961, Bill was predeceased by his father, Harry Christie (August 12, 2002), and his mother, Janice Christie nee Billings (January 16, 1996).

Bill is survived by his sister Diane Vandemheen and her son Justin Vandemheen (Lyndsay) and their children Bryson Bass, Nova Vandemheen, and Jason Vandemheen; and by her daughter Rachel Vandemheen, predeceased, and her children.

He is also survived by his sister Marie Christie (Ed Vona) and her family, including her son and his daughter Teagan, as well as Cassandra Scisson (Trevor) and their children Sawyer and Tucker.

Bill was a father to Ashley Sloan (Billy) and their children, as well as to Carrie Sloan-Christie (Jason) their children and Stephanie Sloan-Christie (Mike), and their children.

He will be missed by the aunts, uncles, and cousins he remained in regular contact with over the years.

Bill spent more than 30 years living in Fort McMurray, where he built a life and connections within the community. The family extends their condolences to those who knew him there.

The family would like to thank Sylvie for being by his side, and Andy for his continued support and check-ins.

A special thank you is also extended to the delivery driver who took in Bill’s cat, Toast.

Bill will be brought home to Ontario, where a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Details will be shared when available.
