It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette Mary Reid nee Decker, on August 15, 2026 at the age of 71 years. She leaves to mourn, Her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Bim, who was the love of her life and her best friend. Cherished mother of Kerry(Teena) & Terri Jean(Zane)Beloved Nan to Emily(Ryan), Kassidy(Kirk), Christopher & Zachary and Treasured Gigi to Luke. She also leaves to mourn her adored brothers and her favorite story tellers Tom(Marie),Harry(Christine), and Curtis(Sandra). She will be greatly missed by her brother-in-law Robert(Florence), sister-in-laws Leona, Shirley(Beaton), Linda(Leamond), Marjorie(Edwin) each of whom she thought of so fondly. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends, especially her cherished “Newfie Golden Girls,” Marilyn, Doreen, and Donna, who held a very special place in her heart.

Jeanette is predeceased by her parents Elsie and Philip, brother Hughie & sisters Peggy & Marjorie. Brother in law Raymond. Predeceased by her husband’s parents, Arminius & Audrey and his biological mother, Shirley.

At just 16 years old, Jeanette left her home in Sally’s Cove, Newfoundland, and headed to Corner Brook to begin her working career. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bim. What began as a young romance grew into a lifelong love story built on devotion, laughter, and unwavering commitment. They were married on April 18, 1975, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories.

Their two children Kerry and Terri Jean were, without a doubt, their greatest blessings, whom Jeanette adored with all her heart. Being a mother was one of her deepest joys and greatest purposes in life. Her love only grew as her family expanded, and her grandchildren — Emily, Kassidy, Christopher, and Zachary — became the light of her life and her greatest pride. The arrival of her cherished great-grandson, Luke, brought a new and precious joy that filled her heart in a very special way.

In 1997, Jeanette and Bim left Newfoundland and moved to Fort McMurray for work, beginning another chapter of their life together, always side by side. After retiring in 2016, they embraced the freedom to travel and enjoy life together. They spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they made many wonderful memories with great friends, and their summers back home in Newfoundland, close to the place Jeanette would always call home. These years gave them precious time together to travel, relax, laugh, and enjoy the life they had built side by side.

Jeanette had a gift for making a house feel like home and a gathering feel like family. She loved to cook, and her table was always a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome. She found joy in preparing meals for family and friends, making sure no one ever left feeling like a stranger. She enjoyed a glass of wine, travelling with Bim, sharing laughter, and creating memories in the company of those she held dear. Her home was filled with love, stories, music, laughter and the simple beauty of togetherness.

Jeanette had a rare and beautiful way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. She found happiness in life’s simplest moments . These are the moments her loved ones will hold onto tightly, carrying her giving spirit with them always.

Her family was her greatest treasure, and the love she gave so freely will remain with them forever. Though her passing leaves a deep and painful emptiness, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the laughter she gave so generously will never fade.

Jeanette leaves behind a family who loved her beyond measure, and a lifetime of beautiful memories that will be carried in their hearts for all time.

She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed. And she will be loved forever.

A sincere and heartfelt Thank-You to the third floor staff at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Ft. McMurray. We truly appreciated the patience, compassion, and respect you showed throughout her care. Knowing she was in such capable and caring hands meant a great deal to our family. 

A Celebration of Life will take place to honour and remember Jeanette. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in celebrating her life and sharing memories of a person who will be deeply missed.
