LAWRENCE JOSEPH DOBER

OCTOBER 18, 1959 – AUGUST 27, 2026

It is with immense sadness that the family of the late Lawrence Joseph Dober announces his passing in Fort McMurray, AB, on August 27, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Throughout his life, Larry made many lasting friendships and treasured the people who became part of his journey.  His kind heart, generous spirit, sense of humour and the love he gave so freely, will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Leaving behind to mourn with a lifetime of love, laughter and cherished memories are his wife of 32 years, Janice Drover; children, Mandy Upshall (Charlie), Brandon Dunn (Kelsy), Fallon Dober (Greg); five grandchildren, Jaysie, Alana, Madison, Tyson and Colten; siblings Carol Ann Young, Joan Edwards (Gus), Mary Stamp (Don), Vera Dicks (Charles), Phonse Dober (Becky), Tony Dober (Carol), Lee Dober, Denise White (Wayne), Glenda Gover (Howie), Wayne Dober, Bridgette Dober; parents-in-law, Wilson Way, Ross and Karen Newman; sisters-in-law, Roxanne Way, Kimberly Way; brother-in-law, Joshua Newman (Shelly);  as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Regina Dober, mother-in-law Lucy Way, sister Betty Okeefe, nephew Stephen Careen, brothers-in-law Paul Edison, Chester Walsh and Richard Young.

Visitation is scheduled at Robert Anderson Funeral Services, 190 MacAlpine Crescent, Fort McMurray, AB on Sunday August 30, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

A funeral mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 3 Hospital Street, Fort McMurray, AB at 11:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2026. Cremation to follow with inurnment at a later date.
