Obituary of Wendy Yvonne Gagnon

Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wendy Yvonne Gagnon,  age 47, of Fort McMurray, Alberta, on April 26th, 2024, at the Northern Lights Regional Health Center.

Wendy was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on August 11th, 1976, to John and Yvonne Pardy. Wendy spent most of her adolescent life in Ontario, until her return to Newfoundland in 1993 where she completed high school. She made many friends along the way including Joël who would become her future husband. After high school, she went on to study and earned a certificate in Dental Assisting.

Wendy and Joël started dating in 2001 and were married in 2003. They started their cross county adventure in 2005 headed to Fort McMurray, Alberta, ready to settle down and start their careers. They welcomed their first child, Olivia, in May 2008, and soon after followed Joshua in November 2010.

Wendy was a kind and caring soul who would do anything for her family and friends. She was a loving mother and could often be found carting Olivia to dance and Joshua to the RC car shows. She had the most infectious laugh and smile whom some would say she inherited from her dad. Wendy had a large circle of friends that she made along the way. Many of whom would often be referred to as aunts and uncles to her young children. She had an adventurous spirit and thoroughly loved camping, boating and spending time in the woods riding ATV’s. One of her children’s fondest memories of Wendy was the elaborate trip to Disneyland that she planned for her kids, her sister, her nephew and her mom.

Anyone who knew Wendy, knew she was late for everything including her own wedding. If you needed our Dear Wendy to be at an event on time, you had to tell her it began at least 2 hours before the actual start time.

She had tremendous love for her pets, and filled much of her time caring for, and loving them. It caused her much sadness when she lost her beloved pets Tigger, Tetra, and Cocoa.

Wendy is survived by her husband, Joël; daughter, Olivia; and her son, Joshua. Her mother, Yvonne (Jerry)  of Alberta Beach, AB; sister, Amanda (Brad) of Lamont, AB;  brother, Kevin (Wendy) of Fort McMurray, and her nephew, Ashtyn, whom she dearly loved; her in-laws: Andre and Pearl Gagnon; sister-in-law, Odette (Jamie), and their children: Madison, Brayden, Noah, Owen and Chase. Wendy also had a very large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded by her father, John; and her grandparents: Murdoch and Florence Pardy, and Giles and Melinda Pardy.

There will be a memorial service for her friends and family in Newfoundland in the summer of 2025. Details to be announced at a later time.
