My condolences go put to Collis' family, love ones and friends. Even in his illness he has been a source of comfort to me since we were both dealing with many of the same health issues. I got really concerned after not hearing from him in a little while and only just found out he passed. Rest peacefully my dear friend.

Collis Small – Memories by Peter MacD Earle
Kayne West said “nothing in life is promised except death” and Marcus Tullius Cicero, a Roman statesman, orator, lawyer and philosopher once said “The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living.” I have good memories of Collis. He was not only a relative but a friend.
The memories I have of him is of a handsome little boy walking with his chest in the air with his Combermere School socks pulled up high, wearing a hat on occasions and him being a very quick and witty individual who liked to laugh. He attended lessons at my Dad, the late Simeon Earle and whenever he visited us, we would have long conversations like those that we had on facebook messenger. Collis in my estimation was a very caring and intelligent individual. He liked to plan and he was concerned about the welfare of others. He thought about what he was going to say before he opened his mouth and he said he well.
We talked about everything from family to politics in Barbados and Canada, mobile homes, family, his bout with frost bite a few years ago, our old school Combermere and his job. Collis loved his job. He talked about the long hours, the extreme cold conditions under he worked and the incentives offered for coming to work under risky conditions.
The last time I saw Collis was when he returned to Barbados a few years ago and organized a reunion with his schoolmates, close friends and relatives at Lucky Horse Shoe in Warrens, St. Michael. That night the boys sat around a large table and reminisced about exploits at school, world affairs, local politics etc. I was happy to be part of that gathering. We laughed until we cried and promised to repeat that event. Another positive memory I will cherish.
I was aware of his health challenges and so I occasionally asked Colleen to report on his progress since I was no longer on facebook. Her last report a week before his passing was that he was getting stronger. That pleased me to no end. You can therefore imagine the shock I experienced when my brother informed me of Collis’s passing. One never becomes accustomed to news about death and especially someone who you know well.
To his wife and children, grand mother Carmen, mother Joan, father George, cousin Colleen and the entire family I would like to express my deepest condolences on behalf of my immediate family my Mom Thelma Earle, Sister Patricia Engram, Kerwin, Lindell, Steve and Duane Earle. I will miss Collis. May he rest in peace.

Collis was indeed a people's person . I loved his sense of humor and general respect for others.
I am still finding it hard to believe that Collis is gone...but I am indeed pleased that he is no longer suffering as a result of the illnesses he bore these past few months.
He will indeed be missed by myself and the other members of our Combermere school group.
To Johanna, the kids as well as his mum and grandmum, along with the other members of the family, I wish you peace and comfort as you hold fond memories of your husband, dad, son, grandson, cousin etc close to your hearts.

I will remember Collis 'Smog' Small as a guy who loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour. But he also had serious side and was not afraid to let his thoughts be known whether you agreed with him or not. Firm but also fair. May he Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.

I remember Collis as a witty, jovial guy, back from our high school days. The aspect that I remember with fondness, though, was his athleticism. For a short, stocky guy, he had a tremendous burst of speed which always caught one by surprise. I will miss his humour and his photos of the Canadian wilderness. May his soul find favor with the Almighty.

To Collis’ loved ones please accept my sincerest and heartfelt condolences. We both attended Combermere School in Barbados and later interacted via social media in group chats. I always found him to be an engaging and encouraging person. In the words of our school song” ever upward to fight ever true to God and might. Pluming wings for higher flight. Up and On. Up and On”. May you find comfort in the fond memories.

Collis and I went to Combermere School in Barbados. We did not have much interaction at school, but we were both a part of the whatsapp school chat. There I saw how he initiated ideas, encouraged persons, functioned as reconciliator. .all round pleasant and loving person. As a result of my commenting on how beautiful his pics of Canada were, he private messaged me to offer to take me and family sight seeing whenever next we made it to Canda. My family and I extend heartfelt condolences to you: Collis' family and friends. We mourn with you, we pray for you and we celebrate his life with you.
