On October 10, 2020, Basil Fred Tourangeau, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away after a long illness, at the age of 77 at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. Basil was born on January 18, 1943 in Birch River, Alberta to Annie Boucher and Joseph Tourangeau. Basil was the last living out of sixteen siblings. He grew up in the Fort Chipewyan area, where he was a hunter, trapper and dog musher. He worked numerous jobs during his lifetime, but his passion was as a heavy equipment operator. Basil was known to be the best dozer man in Alberta; every job he held, he was a name hire because his reputation preceded him.He was well known, respected and loved by many people. He will always be remembered for his many jokes, his traditional knowledge, and his great stories. Basil will be greatly missed by his numerous friends and family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his children; Rudy, Darren, Preston, John, Melissa, Amanda, Josh and his loving wife Marlene, of 27 happy years together.
