Obituary of Carol Ann Johnson

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
“Good night, sleep tight, Don’t let the bed bugs bite. If they do, Squeeze them tight and And say I love you.” --Mom It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Johnson. Carol is survived by her partner Wallace Dunbar, daughter Marla Johnson, brothers Dave Leffler (Nyowa), Arnold Leffler (Sherell), Gerry Leffler (Debb), her five favourite nieces (Diane, Tracy, Shari, Ashtyn and Courtney), aunts Lydia Pressacco and Tina Boucher, and numerous other family members. She leaves behind special friends Monica Dunbar and Julia Dunbar-Gallant, as well as the many friends she made wherever she went. Carol was born and raised in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, and made Fort McMurray her home for the last 35 years. If you knew her, you might, at some point, have gotten “the shirt off of her back” because she was generous and kind, and more than once gave someone the jewelry, shirt, or jacket off her back! Her favourite hobby was camping (glamping!) in the “coach”. She loved the motorhome, and if given the choice, most likely would have spent her last days in it. She made many trips and memories to visit people, look after her mom, and enjoyed an expedition with Wally across Canada in 2017. Carol’s determined, feisty, and tenacious personality got her through many health issues during the last years of her life from a lung transplant, leg amputation, and dialysis to name a few! She was admired for her strength and persistence to overcome these challenges and taught us all what it means to be tough. Her daughter, in particular, is inspired by the courage and resilience she showed and will strive to be as strong a person like her mom when faced with life's adversities. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of the University of Alberta Hospital lung transplant team in Edmonton who supported Carol through her challenges. As well, the doctors, nurses, and palliative team at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray for their special care and attention to Carol. If desired, donations can be made to the Alberta Lung Association - PO Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 6K2. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.rafuneralservices.com
