Obituary of Leonard "Lenny" Paul Hodder

Please share a memory of Leonard "Lenny" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lenny Hodder at the age of 60. Born November 14, 1960, to Lauree and Leonard Janes in Calgary, Alberta. Len will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend, Karen Hodder (Steeves) and their boys Tanner (Jaunna) Hodder and Tyler Hodder. Precious grandchildren Easton “Bubba” Hodder and Spencer Ella Hodder. Survived by his siblings Lee (Sharron) Hodder, Shane (Kelly) Janes, Shelley Hodder, Sandra Sorge, Roxanne Sorge. Mother Lauree Holloway. Uncles Bill & Sue Moore and Bill Verigan. Goddaughter Raeanne Adams & family. Special friends the Grant family, the Bourassa family, the Iannetti Family, the Court family, Gary Flood, Vern Hoit, Henny Burchell, Mike and Kathy Overton, Abasand neighbours, Giants & Baseball Family, secondary sons, Vernon BC pals, and the dead peckers club. Special loved ones Bob and Faye Cassista, Louise Hodder and family, Paul and Lauree Lafreniere, Don & Mavis Flach and godson Robert Flach and a host of loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and longtime friends from around the world. Preceded by his father's Leonard Jane and Clayton Hodder. Uncle Mike Verigan and Uncle Pete. Aunt Marilyn. Len moved to Fort McMurray in 1979 and started working in the oil sand industry; he had a great career of 42 years at Syncrude. Lenny married Karen on January 2, 1988, and built a beautiful life together. Lenny loved his family fiercely, especially his boys. A force of nature: a mountain of a man, and the only thing bigger was his heart. Often Len could be found taking pictures of airplanes, spending free time at the Iannetti’s chopping wood. He devoted his time to his grandchildren. Len and Easton had a special bond from birth. Len always looked out for his “bubba” and would do anything for his boys. A gentle giant too many unless you were on the other side of a hockey hit. A friend too many, coach to others and a second dad to some. Sadly, missed along life’s way, quietly remembered every day. No longer in our life to share, but in our hearts, you are always there. To everyone who knows Betty Cookie! And I gotcha you back. Celebration of life takes place on July 24, 2021, from 1 pm-4 pm at 172 Community Lane, Fort McMurray (Saprae Creek). Email jaunnahodder@hotmail.com for updates, pictures or videos, and stories
