Obituary of Gisèle Pierrette Golosky
Please share a memory of Gisèle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Gisèle Golosky on June 21, 2021. Gisèle was born to Pierre and Marie Rose (Meunier) Lapointe on May 15, 1931 in McLennan, Alberta. In 1952, Gisèle began her teaching career in Donnelly, AB. She then moved to teach in Fort McMurray in 1954 and it was here that she met her future husband, Jack Golosky. She spoke fondly of meeting dad at the curling rink in Waterways and how they enjoyed many happy times as a young couple. Together they raised their seven children; Michael (Tina) Golosky, Mark (Vonnie) Golosky, Jacqueline (Duane) Brooks, Valerie (Andrew) Ciupa, Susan (Liam) Nolan, Kelly (Cheryl) Golosky and Christopher (Lisa) Golosky.
Gisèle was loved by all who came in contact with her. She was a woman of deep faith and lived it every day of her 90 years. She was kind to everyone she encountered and the most loving mom; caring and thinking of her children until the end. She brought that care into the classroom and was so delighted when students from many decades before would still recognize her with fondness.
Mom was happiest when she was busy in one of the many activities she enjoyed, especially when she could share it with her husband, Jack. Together they created many wonderful memories for their family, something we are all grateful for and will cherish forever. Mom’s greatest joy came from being able to spend time with her family. She was extremely proud of all of us and treasured each of us. She leaves behind 16 adoring grandchildren; Jessica, Amber, Ryan, Karri, Michelle, Eric, Lisa, Nicole, John, Sarah, Brittney, Bryce, Rueben, Breanna, Maria, Hannah and Riel. She also leaves behind 20 treasured great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Roland (Lucille) Lapointe, Gerald (Huguette) Lapointe, Pierrette (Normand) Boucher and Adrienne (Ken Allard) Lapointe. She was predeceased by her sister Gilberte (André) Lefebvre. She also leaves to mourn her sister-in-law Jean (Bert) Golosky as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gisèle passed peacefully, having lived a life filled with faith and love. Her memory will live forever in all of us and her passing leaves us knowing that we were truly blessed to have her as a part of our lives.
The family would like to thank all those who have shown mom kindness and care over the years. Especially the staff at Rotary House, Dr.'s; Denga, Van Heerde, O’Connor, Tomy, Roberts and Cyr-Hornick. To the nurses at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre; your kindness and care for mom are greatly appreciated. Also, to Father Augustan for taking the time to be with mom when it mattered to her most. And to all those who took time to care for mom, especially her grandchildren, she didn’t like to be a bother, but your care was appreciated by her.
Donations in Gisèle’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral Mass will be held for Gisele on July 7, 2021, at St. John’s the Baptist Church at 11:00 am.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10
