Obituary of Sherri Lynn Flett

Please share a memory of Sherri to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness and disbelief that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear daughter, Sherri Lynn Flett. Sherri was born in Fort McMurray, Alberta on October 17, 1978, to Bernadette Flett and Robert Lepine. Sherri was raised by her mother, Bernadette Flett, and stepfather John Flett, who raised Sherri like his own daughter. Her grandparents Roderick and Alice Mercredi, played a big part in her upbringing as well. Sherri moved to Fort McMurray to complete her High School and that is where she remained until the time of her passing. Sherri worked at various jobs; did a stint as a summer student with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, worked for Alberta Forestry for a number of years as an Initial Attack Firefighter, and worked for various contractors in the Oil Field. As most of you are aware, Sherri was not one to spend time in the kitchen. She couldn’t cook to save her soul - but man, could she ever clean. Through the years, Sherri was told that she was not able to have children, but to her surprise, and mine, one day in February 2016 she told me that she was pregnant. In July 2016, little Paisley was born. I am sure this was the highlight of Sherri’s life. She loved her daughter unconditionally, and Paisley brought great joy to her mother’s life. She told me that when she looked at Paisley, she knew she had finally done something right. In December 2021, Sherri and I were talking about things in general, and she turned to me and said, “You know mom, Paisley is my gift to you because I know you will look after her well”. So, thank you for the wonderful gift, my girl. I will love her and take care of her for the rest of my life. Sherri leaves to mourn her mother and stepfather Bernadette and John Flett, her father Robert Lepine (Doreen), her beautiful daughter Paisley Flett, brother Ian Flett (Lainey & Ezra), Special Aunt Valerie Morfitt, Special Uncle Richard Mercredi, sisters Stacey, Roberta & Robyn Courtoreille-Lepine, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and many friends. Sherri is predeceased by her grandparents Roderick and Alice Mercredi, grandfather John Lepine, and grandmother Therese Michael. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Chez Dube Country Inn 10102 Fraser Ave, Fort McMurray, AB. Family viewing is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Public viewing is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Father Jonnel will be officiating a service at 2 pm. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks for donations in Sherri’s memory to a nonprofit organization of one’s choice. Rest In Peace beautiful girl, we will never let Paisley forget her mother.
