Lynda Mae O'Quinn Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Lynda Mae O’Quinn, 56 of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Lynda passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Grey Nuns Hospital. She fought a tough battle with cancer after being diagnosed in 2020.

Lynda was born in Dunnville, Ontario on December 3rd, 1965. She is the beloved daughter of Jean MacLean (Winston Beaton) Inverness, Cape Breton and Andrew Samuel O’Quinn, Codroy Valley, NFLD.

Lynda grew up in Kenloch and went to school in Inverness until she graduated in 1983. She then continued her education by obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma (LPN). Lynda was born to be an outstanding nurse and shined throughout her 32 years in her career. In 1990, Lynda and her boyfriend John Duncan Fraser (JD), moved to Camrose to pursue nursing. Lynda and JD were married and had two beautiful children, John Andrew Garret Fraser (Drew) on May 7, 1991, and Lyndsay Jean Fraser on July 13, 1993. After many wild adventures and life experiences, Lynda met her true soul mate, Brent Boutilier in 2020, and they made many incredible memories in such a short time.

Lynda worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose for 20 years and the past 13 years at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray. She had a passion for travelling, sun worshiping, camping, boating, fishing, spending time with her family and enjoying a good glass of wine.

Lynda had the most beautiful smile and laugh that could light up any room. We will always remember her caring personality and her positive outlook on life. Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed as she showed love and compassion to everyone she met. Lynda’s motto was “Inhale the Future, Exhale the Past.”

Lynda is survived by her loving children Drew and Lyndsay Fraser, her mother Jean Mac Jean (Winston), her favourite sister Debbie (Clint) MacPherson), nephews Jarod (Kashae), Owen and Keigan MacPherson, her special love, Brent Boutilier and their guard dog Caper. She will also be deeply missed by her family, friends, hospital coworkers and anyone who ever met Lynda.

She was predeceased by her dad, Andy O’Quinn, maternal grandparents Neil and Jessie Mae MacKinnon, paternal grandparents Thomas and Mary O’Quinn, many aunts and uncles and her cousin Grace.

A funeral service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 9317 Huggard Street in Fort McMurray, on March 11, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Lynda’s name to the “Lynda Mae O’Quinn Memorial LPN Bursary”.
