Obituary of Shannon Edward Earle

Please share a memory of Shannon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With heavy hearts, the family of Shannon Edward Earle, 47, announces his sudden passing on February 17, 2023, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Originally from Glenwood, Shannon grew up on the banks of the Gander River in central Newfoundland. He attended Lakewood Academy for his early education. After graduating from Gander Collegiate in 1993, Shannon attended Memorial University before completing a diploma in Journalism from the College of the North Atlantic. After working for VOCM Radio in Gander, Shannon followed his true love, politics and moved to the nation’s capital. While in Ottawa, Shannon worked for Liberal Members of Parliament during the Chretien and Martin governments. When the red wave in Ottawa turned blue, Shannon moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta. He first worked in the non-profit sector before transferring to a job at an oil sands site and finally moved into his most recent position within the Regulatory Affairs Department at McMurray Metis. Those who knew Shannon best described the last years of his life as the happiest of his 47. He loved watching sports; he even had a Philly Jersey made with his name. He always enjoyed having a fire in the backyard, even when it is -35 degrees, with a Guinness in hand. He loved caring for his wife and daughters with true devotion and was planning a family trip to the Philippines later this year. Shannon leaves to mourn the love of his life, wife Josie, precious daughters Joyce and Jeziel, mother Cynthia, brother Kyle, darling nieces Taylor and Elise, and a huge circle of family and friends in Newfoundland, Ottawa, and Fort McMurray. Taken to God way before his time, Shannon was a kind-hearted, unassuming soul loved by those who encountered him over his lifetime. We surely will miss his wit and loving smile. A viewing will be held at All Nations Church, 104 Brett Drive, Fort McMurray on Saturday, February 25, 2023, between 11:30 AM – 1 PM MST, followed by the funeral service. Live streaming will begin at 12:50 pm MST for those unable to attend in person. The link will be available on the Robert Anderson Funeral Services Facebook page. “Home is where I want to be.
