Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of David “Lloyd” Benoit on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at the Northern Lights Regional Health Center in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Lloyd was born on August 7th, 1964, in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, to his parents Lawrence and Elsie (nee Larocque) Benoit. Lloyd graduated high school in 1982 from Blue Quills near St Paul, Alberta. Lloyd earned his Journeymen Millwright ticket in 1992 and worked in the oil sands industry for the entirety of his career. Lloyd had a passion for knowledge, leading to two years at university with honours in arts- education from 2005-2007. Lloyd met Beverley Davies in Fort Chipewyan in 1986, where they were both living at the time. Together with Bev’s son Zach, they moved to Fort McMurray, where they had three more children: Ty, Luke, and Tait. They later adopted Lloyd’s late sister, Wanda’s children, Cody and Travis. Lloyd and Bev’s most special moments together were spent watching their kids grow up, travelling, and playing sports. Lloyd will always be remembered for his sense of humour, intelligence, good stories, and his unique outlook on life. Lloyd always made friends wherever he went and enjoyed the company of others. Lloyd loved to play sports, and many people will remember him for his athletic ability. Other than times spent with family, Lloyd’s fondest memories were on ball diamonds, curling rinks, hockey rinks, golf courses, and pool halls. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Beverley Davies; his parents, Lawrence and Elsie Benoit; his sister, Wanda; his brothers, Rudy, Charles (Bear), Lorne (Smallie); his parents-in-law, Ron and Reta Davies; brothers-in-law, Mark and Lyle Davies; and sister-in-law, Arlene McKay. Lloyd is survived by his children, Zach, Ty, Luke, Cody, Tait, and Travis; his grandchild, Clay; his brothers, Steve, Wayne, and Kevin (Charlene); his sister-in-law, Colleen (Denis) Harmatiuk, and brother-in-law, Milton (Elizabeth) Davies. Lloyd is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to pay their respects to Lloyd on Friday, March 10th, 2023, from 12:30-3:30 pm at Robert Anderson Funeral Services Inc. at #115, 190 MacAlpine Crescent.
