Valerie was a beautiful woman. She treated everyone like family and with kindness. I have so many memories of her from visiting her in the bush, drinking tea and playing cards or radio bingo together. She was such a strong woman who fought so long and hard. Valerie was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Q: How did you meet Valerie?
A: I met Valerie through her grandson, Monty.
Monty would always tell me he wanted me to meet his granny when we first started dating cause she was such an important person to him and from the day I met her she had this glow and vibe about her that just made you feel like you were at home whenever you were around her. She was so welcoming and had unconditional love for everyone. I will miss her beautiful face and her always joking around with me whenever we would see each other. Rest Easy Val. I love you.
Love always,
Itchy.

Q: How would you describe Valerie to someone who had never met them?
A: If I were to describe my “Auntie Val”as she was called by all of her nieces and nephews three words come to mind. Loving, Traditional, Matriarch. She had so much love to give to those that were important to her. As her niece, I knew she loved me and I loved her. I have so many fun memories of going in the bush to “Cut Fush” when I was younger. The memories of a traditional way of life that that are slowly fading run deep. I will never forget those memories and I will always keep her close in my heart. She became the Matriarch of the family because she had such a big heart and so much love to give. This is a huge loss for our family. She suffered immensely and deserves to rest now. Rest in Peace Auntie Val. You will never be forgotton❤️
