Obituary of Raymond Sanders

Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Raymond Sanders, a hardworking and skilled outdoorsman, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 64 years. Born in Port Hope, Ontario on June 12, 1959, Raymond was the beloved son of Howard and Peggy Sanders. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and a passion for nature and his family.

From an early age, Raymond developed a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. He found solace in fishing and hunting, cherishing the serenity and connection to nature these activities provided.  A true jack of all trades, Raymond excelled in various pursuits throughout his life.

On November 3, 1990, Raymond married the love of his life, Paula, embarking on a journey filled with love and joy.  Together, they raised four children.  Raymond’s devotion to his family was unwavering, and he took pride in being a loving husband and father.

Ray ran a fishing charter business while tending to the family apple orchard. He and Paula also enjoyed fishing in their own backyard while living in the log home that Raymond built on the lake.  He also served as a fish and wildlife technician, dedicating his expertise to the conservation and preservation of the natural world he cherished.

Raymond retired in 2020 from working his many years with Badger, allowing him more time to pursue his passions and spend quality moments with his loved ones. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 32 years, Paula; his children: Tyler (Laura), Vivian, Alexander and Victoria; his grandchildren: Everly and Charlie; his brothers: Zeke, Randy (Deb), Barry (the late Darlene), and Paul (Leslie); his sister: Susan; and his cherished in-laws: Steve Phillips (Karen), Blair Phillips, David Phillips (Joanne), Ryan Phillips (Erika), Corey Phillips (Lacey), Jeni Gardiner (Ryan), and Troy Phillips. He was predeceased by his parents: Howard and Peggy Sanders; his sister-in-law: Patricia and her husband Derek Robertson.

Ray will be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking man whose love for nature, family, and craftsmanship touched the lives of those around him. His clever sense of humor, intelligence, kind heart, and unwavering spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty he cherished so deeply.
