Obituary of Roger Michael Kleinschroth

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our brother, Roger Michael Kleinschroth, age 66, has passed away peacefully at his home in Fort McMurray, AB. with his beloved dog, Lady, by his side on August 7th, 2023. Roger’s departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by his loved ones and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Roger was born on October 1st, 1956, in Edmonton, Alberta, to William Harry Kleinschroth and Muriel Alice Erickson. Roger moved to Fort McMurray in 1967 where he forged the lasting connections that would define his life. He attended Peter Pond High School, where he began to cultivate his interests and develop his distinct personality. After his journey of learning and self-discovery, Roger found his calling as a skilled Crane Operator. His commitment and dedication led him to a fulfilling career with Syncrude Canada Ltd., where he worked tirelessly until his well-deserved retirement in 2011.

Roger’s heart belonged to his family and his cherished dog, Lady, who was a faithful companion that had a strong and emotional attachment to Roger and went everywhere with him.

Roger’s memory will forever be cherished by his sister: Judy Hansen (Peter) and his 3 brothers: Dale (Ladine), Dan and Wayne Kleinschroth; many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his parents: William Harry Kleinschroth and Muriel Alice Erickson, as well as his niece, Jodi Rae Hansen. Their memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

Roger had a zest for life that extended beyond the confines of his work. He relished in spending quality time with family and close friends, creating cherished memories that will endure forever. For 10 years, he had an annual tradition of attending the Big Valley Jamboree, camping together with his family and friends while enjoying all the weekend music, entertainment and activities! A true testament to his love for country music and his connections with others.

A public viewing to pay respects to Roger will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at Robert Anderson Funeral Services Inc. in Fort McMurray, AB. The funeral service will follow the next morning, Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, at 11:00am, at the same location. For those wishing to join us, his interment will take place on Monday, September 4th, 2023, at 3:00pm at the Westlock Cemetery with a small graveside service. This will be a time for all those who knew Roger to come together, to celebrate his life, and to say their final farewells.

Following the Saturday funeral service, all are invited to join us for a light lunch and fellowship. Your presence is deeply appreciated, and we look forward to sharing this time of reflection and camaraderie with you.
