Sorry to hear of Gary’s passing….Growing up I always knew that Gary was there for my father , Ned Shelley…I knew they had a bond and at my father’s funeral Gary explained that when he went to advocate mines as a young man, it was Ned Shelley that “took him under his wing” and showed him the ropes and they remained lifelong friends ,..Rest in Peace Gary….Pauline Shelley

Garry was well known in Baie Verte and surrounding areas for his music. A great drummer. He played with my sister Anne and The Sweet Seasons for years. There were two characters in town that talked a little different so when we met him and I would mimic them in a nice way. Always had a great laugh. One great guy and I will always remember him. I remember when Dave and I shot a moose way out in the bush past Anzac, we had to call Garry and Dave’s neighbour to come help us pack it out! Garry loaded up a quad and trailer, headed out in the black of the night to help us out, no questions asked!
I’ll never forget that hunt and much we learned from Garry that night.

Rest in peace my friend. Your life was well lived and you bought so much joy to your family and friends. I certainly enjoy your visits and stories about your days gone by. Iam sure there were many more and someday we will chat about those as well.
