Obituary of James Gilbert MacLean
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of James MacLean on November 19th, 2023, in his home with his loving wife Brenda by his side after a brief illness.
James was born in Glace Bay to the late Pauline (Gilbert) MacLean Glace Bay NS and Jim MacLean Port Hood, NS on July 8th, 1961.
He attended St Mikes School and later Nova Scotia Vocational School where he received a Red Seal Endorsement in the trade of Millwright in 1991. James was a proud member of Millwrights Local 1178 in Nova Scotia and Local 1460 Alberta where he worked various locations across the Maritimes, Ontario, and Alberta for over 25 years until his retirement in 2017.
James is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Arthur (Dianna) Fort McMurray; father Jim MacLean Port Hood; sisters, Paula (Denny) Upper Sackville, and Brenda (Robert) Glace Bay; mother-in-law, Betty MacDonald Dominion; sister-in-law, Paula (Patrick) New Waterford; nephews, Kevin and Steven; nieces, Lindsay, Denise, Michelle and Elizabeth; and two beautiful dogs, Louie and Ruby, who he loved very much.
He is preceded by his mother, Pauline in 1996; father-in-law, Art 2000; and niece, Angela 1984.
James and Brenda enjoyed to travel home to Nova Scotia. They had a wonderful visit last April for his fathers 90th birthday, which was a wonderful day spent with close family and many friends from the past. The visit will always be remembered as very special time and we are forever thankful for it.
James will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help those around him.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date In Nova Scotia.
