To Mrs. Lush and the entire Lush Family, our hearts are both sadden and heavy with the passing of Mr. Lush! May God comfort and guide you as you grieve the lost of your loved one!
From the first moment we met Mr. Lush (and Mrs. Lush) many years ago (early 1980’s), he welcomed us into his home and family, unconditionally! We hold many fond memories of family and friend gatherings at the Lush Home, where there was no shortage of jubilance, humour, food that would please any palate, beverage of one’s choice, a mix of music combined with friendly conversation and a little politicking with Mr. Lush.
For those that had the honour and privilege of knowing Mr. Lush, knew that he was a quiet, reserved man of few words, and seldom offered an opinion. Sorry, that was a lighthearted attempt to insert humour, for that was not Mr. Lush. In a kind, gentle, and respectful way, Mr. Lush was anything but quiet and reserved, and he would offer an opinion whether solicited or not. Mr. Lush loved to talk, be jovial, and politely engage with one in a conversation of sports, politics, and social matters of the day.
As young adults with no immediate family of our own living in Fort McMurray, both Mr. and Mrs. Lush became, in some ways, our Mom and Dad. We were invited to partake in their celebrations and special occasions, such as Christmas. We joined them on vacations in Cuba, Dominican Republic, and visited them in their family vacation home in Glovertown, NL. On each and every occasion, Mr. Lush always made us feel welcome in his presence!
Throughout our years in Fort McMurray and to this very day, Mr. Lush will forever remain in our hearts and memories!

Venessa and family, Although we are separated in miles today, our hearts and souls are with you during this time of mourning and Celebration of Life. Harold, your life touched everyone that you met in your journey of life. With your passing brother, it feels as if I have lost some of myself, and certainly an integral part of myself. We will surely miss you and your late night calls telling us it was too early to be tucked in, not caring of the time difference.
You taught us many things about life. How to live, love and ( and of course ) how to make fun .
Your memories will will teach us how to remember you, your love, and advice for all the family, whether we needed it or not and for all of us to live life to the fullest every day.
Sending boundless love and sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Look down on us Brother and guide us with your wisdom and love. I am sure when we look up to the heavens, we will see you in the brightest star.
All our love Brother Peter and Jean

Nadene and family, so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. He was such a character, I have many find memories of him, here are a couple I’ll share with you.
My first story !
Twas Christmas Eve I’m thinking 1987-88 your dad arrived at our mobile home on Card Crescent Fort McMurray, fully dressed as Santa! And yes you were the driver ! lol he came in with all the spirits of Christmas and to a bewildered little girl Jesse Lynn Santa was a real life person! He continued with his joyful smile and presence and picked up little Jesse and twas a bitter cold night as generally was in northern Alberta! But the heat inside compared to outside was causing Santa to get warm actually overheated fast ! So he needed a beverage which I gladly supplied! As was delighted with the Christmas Spirit and joy ! Meanwhile Santa aka ( Harold) with little Jesse Lynn in his arms took a couple swallows of the cold beverage chatting away to her and then little Jesse said Oh !!! ohhhhh! Harold thought was saying ho ho Ho !! Like Santa but her little finger was pointing in his glass ! It wasn’t Ho Ho Ho! It was definitely the ohhh ohhh ohhh of concern as the stick on white eyebrows he had as his costume. one had fallen into his glass !!!! lol twas a wonderful night a Christmas I will always treasure xx
My second memory which I’m still smiling over !
Twas possibly 1997-98 a hot hot hot July afternoon and your Dad and I had exchanged birthday wishes several times as we celebrated the same day! Anyway it was a absolutely unbearable heat that year and was trying to get something prepared for supper as Bob was working pouring concrete and would arrive soon anyway the phone rang with a number I didn’t know twas the beginning of flip Motorola cell phones lol ! The voice was friendly said good evening mam ! I’m from Devon and we are in the area selling Devon Onions! I was trying to be polite said I’m not interested right now but thank you he kept on with his conversation saying could supply 50lbs ! For cost of 3 lbs and delivery this afternoon I kept telling him I had no storage etc but thank you he then said well I’ll drop off 3 lbs or 5 lbs try them it’s an excellent price continued on and me trying not to be rude especially being so nice attempted to deter him was just about to get exasperated when the unknown caller started laughing!!! Your dad was an absolute IMP !!! Loved getting a good prank, he said happy birthday !!! After 23 minutes on the phone in blessed hot weather no air conditioning!! .. I only knew then it was Harold pranking me ! Will never forget the Devon Onion call !!
Sending love to you and all the family and thank you Harold for the laughs and memories! Xx. Lynda and Bob Empey

It is with great sadness that I hear of Harold's passing. I worked with Harold on Several Shutdowns and was the one to fix his crane on several occassions.
Harold was a very pleasant and happy go lucky throughout this time, and it was amazing how he could operate his crane by two way radio lifting many loads from the coker.
Harold you were great to work with and was good to all his fellow worker.
Condolences to the family and friends.

To Vanessa & Lush Family
We are sending along our regrets and condolences on your loss. I think I drove Harold and Vanessa in Glovertown on their wedding day in my new 64 Plymouth hardtop. I visited him often during our earlier trips to Ft. McMurray. He took the time to drive and show me around. Vanessa traveled back with us on one occasion when we had to dash to catch an earlier flight from Edmonton to McMurray. The one remarkable trait was Harold’s calm demeanor; he never lost control of the moment. He was parking at the West Edmonton Mall when a driver behind got out rather perturbed and berated him. Harold remained calm and nonchalant, thus avoiding a possible confrontation. Charlie & Dora Beckett, Gambo, NL
