It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one Simeon George Goodyear on May 1, 2024 at the age of 65.

George was born in Waterville, NL to Francis and Ernest Goodyear on September 15, 1958. He grew up in Little Catalina, NL, where he later worked in the fishing industry.

He made his way to Fort McMurray, AB in 2005. After arriving he quickly made the city his second home.

George’s contagious smile and outgoing personality was felt by everyone around him: family, friends and co-workers. George loved to play hockey and ride ski doo. He greatly enjoyed outdoor recreation. He also loved a good ole newfie kitchen party, surrounded by his family and friends. George was loved and admired by all whose lives he touched, he will forever by remembered.

He leaves to mourn his loving partner and soulmate of 49 years, Leona Kennedy; brothers, Ansel (Alma), Cyril (Winnie), Steve (Dot), Jim (Velma), Perry (Pauline), Paul (Patricia); sisters, Ivy (Bruce) Berkshire, Evelyn Layden, Blanch (Bill) Reid; sisters-in-law, Connie (Chris) Drew, Regena Kennedy (Perry), Beverley O’Reilly; brother-in-law, Dale Kennedy (Stacey); as well as the abundances of nephews, Bradford Goodyear; and nieces George was blessed with, who he loved dearly; and friend, Stephen Reid.

George was predeceased by his parents, Ernest, and Francis Goodyear; parents-in-law, Fredrick and Rose Kennedy; brothers, Henry, Gordon, Watson, Marvin, and William; sisters, Lorraine Rogers, Marion Stringer, Edith Parsons, and Minnie Goodyear.

As per Georges request cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
