Obituary of Elizabeth Elise Fitz Raiche

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister and friend, Elizabeth “Lizz” Elise Fitz Raiche, on Friday, September 20, 2024, in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Lizz was born in Fort McMurray on October 28, 2006. As a young child she was quiet and soft spoken. She would travel with her mom everywhere! People would remark on how well behaved and sweet she was.

As a child, Lizz developed a love for all things nerdy. She was Spider-Man’s biggest fan! She often asked her mom, “Why didn’t you name me Peter Parker?”. She always enjoyed playing and raising Pokémon with her cousin Noah. Her card collection could fill her entire room, and it often did.

She also enjoyed a wide variety of anime and cartoon shows. Her recent favourite being Hazbin Hotel, a show she enjoyed watching with her parents. She had the sound track memorized and loved to sing; she could have performed it on Broadway herself.

Lizz loved spending time with her family. She never said no to playing with her little brothers, Jaxon and Bennett. They often enjoyed building magnets, racing toy cars, or snuggling on the couch and watching a movie. She was fiercely protective of them, and loved them with all her heart.

She was an elegant young woman, blessed with beauty, grace and wit. In fact, she was so graceful around the house she’d often scare her family by “sneaking" up on them. She started tapping a glass when entering a room to ensure she wouldn’t startle them. Although she liked to keep to herself, you could usually lure her out with a PB & J sandwich or bowl of cereal.

Lizz always thought of those around her, wanting them to be comfortable and happy. She was consistently loyal, caring and friendly. Years ago, a kid in her class was not able to have a birthday party. Upon hearing this news, she promptly asked her parents if they could still buy him a gift to cheer him up.

Her beauty was matched by her strength and bravery to be herself. To express herself and remain true to who she was. Lizz was an inspiration to everyone around her.

If you went looking to visit Lizz at home, you’d probably find her snuggled up on the couch, watching a movie, or gaming in one of her many Oodies, surrounded by a nest of blankets and squish mallows. If not there, you could find her doing puzzles or playing card games with her family (with blanket and stuffies in tow of course).

She was always quick witted, full of creativity, and a true free spirit. She loved to draw, and was also interested in photography.

Lizz will be forever missed by those who loved her. Her presence brought endless love and joy to her family.

YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE

You never said I’m leaving,

You never said goodbye.

You were gone before I knew it,

And only the creator knew why.

A million times I needed you,

A million times I cried.

If love alone could have saved you,

You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,

In death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place,

That no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,

But you didn’t go alone.

For part of me went with you,

The day they took you home.

Greif, I’ve learned, is really just love.

It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot.

All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes,

the lump in your throat, and that hollow part in your chest.

Grief is just love with no place to go.
