Stephen Aucoin of Glace Bay, NS passed away on Sunday February 9, 2020 at The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta at the age of 65 years old. Steve grew up on Cape Breton Island with his 5 siblings. After graduating from high school he briefly worked as an air traffic controller in Gander, NFLD prior to moving to Ontario to begin a 40 year career in the oil & gas industry. Steve and his family moved out to Alberta in 1988 when he accepted a job in Fort McMurray. Steve was passionate about his career and loved working as a panel operator at Syncrude for 32 years. Stephens greatest joys were his children and grandchildren. He spent much of his leisure time boating on the Mira River in Cape Breton Island with his family and friends. He had a love for fast cars, cooking, and travelling. Stephen is survived by his 3 children Dana, Whitney, and Dustin; his 2 grandchildren Hadley, and Kohen; his mother Norma; 5 siblings Donna, David, Gina, Allan, and Michael; and many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his Father, Stephen Aucoin SR. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion, Fort McMurray, Alberta. Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.
