Condolences go out to Marie & all the family, I first met Germain in 1967 as we were into Startup of the Great Canadian Oil Sands Plant. Germain joined the Extraction Operations Group and after many years became a Control Room operator. Germain Routhier had many skills which he applied during the startup & commissioning of the first commercial Oil Sands plant. Germain was a team leader, very community minded , A Tough, Kind, Fellow, who always had time for everyone & every discussion. Germain will be sadly missed by all of his friends, community at large, co workers & many Oil Sands Retirees .

We are so very sorry to hear this news. Germain was like a grandpa for Sammi. Stef and Lindsey Carter would take our sammi over to their house when we were friends and neighbours. This is not only a huge loss for the Routhier family but a huge loss to the community of Fort mcmurray. Please accept our sincere condolences to the entire Routhier family but especially to Marie. You were always such a revered and loved couple to both their family friends and community. Great big Covid free hugs to all. What wonderful memories and times you have shared together and those you will keep for ever. Clarence and Fay Durocher, Cochrane, Alberta (Fort mcmurray neighbours and friends forever)

I remember Uncle Germain as a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He and Auntie Marie (& family) often took the time to stop for a visit on the way by our place, and we always felt welcome to visit theirs as well. Fond memories. Condolences to you all.
