I didn't know John well, but I know his daughter Melissa. I met him, his wonderful wife Viola, and daughter Courteney at Melissa's wedding. I know he was a good man based on how kind, considerate, hard-working, and loving his daughters are. And how long his relationship with Viola has lasted. John and Viola went through the fire and the flood, and made it out on the otherside, stronger. My heart is broken for the entire family. My deep and heartfelt condolences. The world he moved through got a little emptier with his passing. He will be missed by everyone who's heart and lives he's touched.

John was one of the greatest examples of “actions speak louder than words”
27 years ago the family had to come to terms with the loss of their family home after a fire. The family gather back in their hometown of Jacques Fontaine to process the loss and their was plenty of conversation between them as they went through the grieving process. They were a very large family and the bonds created through the good times they shared in the house amplified the feelings of loss they all felt at that time. Over several days stories were share among them which help them all come to terms with the lose of the house.
My wife, the second youngest took to lose particularly hard as she still had vivid memories of her time at home only having move out on her own a few years earlier. Once the fire was out we both headed out to the site of the burned out house to see if anything could salvaged. When we arrived John was already there sifting through what remained. When my wife saw the house she was overcome with emotion and I could do little too console her. Like a father figure John came to her instantly and just held her, never said anything, just held her as she cried at the loss of her childhood home.
Many people offer her their condolences on the loss of the home over the next few day but that all their kind words of comfort paled in comparison to that simple act of just “holding her”.
Whenever his name has been mentioned since, that image instantly floods my mind. It’s a wonderful memory to have.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of our hardworking and kind colleague. His dedication and warm personality touched us all. John was the one of the most friendly and patient people I had ever met. And definitely the hardest worker I have ever had the Honor of working with. His dedication and contributions will be forever remembered, and he will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I worked with John as his supervisor for a few years at Longlake. (John didn’t need a Supervisor)
John was never a person to talk a problem through his language was working a problem through I have never seen anyone with his work ethic and ability. I’m humbled to have worked with John and I only wish I could have got to know him more.
I’ve learned a couple of things from John ,1. When John is talk you know it’s important and you better listen carefully because he is not going to repeat it.
2. Do not give his work away to someone else. One day he walked into my office and in as few words as possible tore a strip off me for giving a job I assigned to him away to someone else. I felt fear for the first time in my life.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for John and I hope he gets to meet my father in his next stop.
RIP John
